MANOLO BLAHNIK, on the importance of knowing your film history:
The other day I saw a girl, very pretty, short with black shoes. I said, “You look like Audrey Hepburn,” and she said, “I don’t know who that is.” I asked, “Don’t you know Sabrina? Love in the Afternoon? Breakfast at Tiffany’s?” Nothing. My hands were almost ready to push her.

A seriously amazing deal: Get this Calypso St. Barth dress for $33 shipped (retail: $295)! Use code SAMPLE SALE at checkout: http://bit.ly/lUcCf2

TweetVerdict: A little disappointing—prices are higher and smaller sizes are few and far between. Be prepared to dig!
When: Tuesday, May 24th – Monday, May 30th, 2011, 12 pm – 8 pm
Where: 234 Mulberry Street (between Prince & Spring street)
Not as great as previous sales (dresses were $50 & tops were $35), but here are the prices (cash or credit):
I was a little disappointed: The bins were mostly filled with older patterns/styles. The newer patterns/styles were very limited in sizes. I had a hard time finding S/XS sizes, which wasn’t the case at prior sample sales. They had a lot of rompers such as the Nyla Romper in a variety of colors, the Kendra Romper in cute floral patterns (I was tempted to get one, but I had to resist…), a couple Nina Rompers floating around. They had a lot of flow blouses like this Alex Blouse and tank tops. They also had a couple of the Kim dresses, which I tried on in black, but it just wasn’t very flattering on me :(. They had a couple Sheila and Minya dresses in different patterns and colors, but it was hard to find them in smaller sizes— were availablemostly mediums. After my second round of digging, I finally found an XS, but it still didn’t fit right!

Verdict: Not a true sample sale, but worth a look.

What? This super cute zebra racerback tank is already out?
For those of you unable to make it to 36th and 9th, Tibi has also brought the sale to its website. For the next three days, you can shop from the luxury of your own home for clothes marked up to 60% off! The goods are definitely not as comprehensive as you would find if you went to the sale in-person, but worth a gander. The plain ‘sale’ tab has much more merch available.
Oh I see what you did there.
My main complaint is that they don’t put a ‘sold out’ indicator on any of the image thumbnails so you don’t know whether or not the item you’re eyeing is still available until you go through the color and size selection. I mean, I’ll do it, but still.
Here’s a little peak at what’s on sale:

Kia Eyelet Shift Dress — $149 (orig $372), only sizes 0 - 6 left

Zebra Strapless Dress — $138 (orig $345), only size 2, 10, 12 left

Forever21 Babushka Charm Necklace — $1.50
Oh my, this is just. too. cute.
I kind of wish the detailing was a bit better, but it’s a buck fifty.
Is it possible for something to be priced too low? ;)
Kohl’s Elle Libbie Peep-Toe Platform Wedge - $19.49
VS.

Dolce Vita’s Pali Wedge - $83.00
Practically mirror images! With a $60+ price difference, would you be tempted? What’s your stance on knock offs?
TweetVERDICT: Not many styles left in a variety of sizes, but lots of one offs in larger sizes. Prepare to dig!
WHEN: Saturday, 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. (last day!)
WHERE: 156 Ludlow, between Stanton & Rivington, 4F (ring the buzzer to be let up)

Picked up the Jagger for $40! These are size 6.5…saw them in 5.5, 8.5 and 9. Probably more large sizes too.
I arrived at the sale around 12:10 p.m. to see a long line of girls waiting outside. Luckily, it was because they hadn’t opened yet (and not because the line was actually that long)…phew. However, this seems to happen whenever they start late (aka noon). They finally let us in around 12:20…

Had to dig around for one-offs in my size (6.5/7), but some were scuffed up, like these cute silver peeptoe pumps (also saw them in white):

and these were just uncomfortable (though cute in a weird way)
We like yellow dots! $40! =)

Saw lots of rope sandals and flat espadrille slip-ons…but not super cute in my opinion. Saw Campbells in larger sizes, a pair of size 8 Twinkas in black, silver Effies in size 10 (i have a brand new pair of 6.5 taupe ones if anyone wants!)
Oh well, super happy with my purchases! And no more shoes…for realz.

Also, just FYI for future reference: If you find scuffed up shoes, you can usually try to negotiate (and offer to pay in cash)—I didn’t try it today because my shoes were in pretty awesome condition (particularly the Marilous—they were still stuffed and wrapped in plastic w/the dust bag!).
Until next time…(you know I love my DV)
